Africa Network for Development has collaborated with the League of women voters and were out registering voters on the National day out in 2007 in the saint Paul area.. We continue to carry out voter education in partnership.

ANDI is part of HIV/AIDS collaboration for the West African Immigrant Community in the Twin Cities composed of African Assistance Program, Minnesota African Women Association The collaborative was funded by the Minnesota department of Health to produce a culturally appropriate educative video for HIV/AIDS in the West African Community in the Twin Cities.

This collaborative received a grant ftrom the Minnesota Department of health in 2007 to produce  HIV preventive education in the West African community. In the course of 2008 the collaborative recruited script writers, and who produce the script used for the video. The video was shown in the West African community in Brooklyn Park on May 16th 2009. Copies of the video shall be distributed to various community based organizations in the course of June 2009.

Africa Network for development has collaborated with Women’s Initiative for Self Empowerment (WISE) for financial literacy program in a consortium. This is done within a consortium led by Women’s Initiative for Self Empowerment (WISE). Two volunteers were trained by (WISE) to begin this work in the community in summer, of 2007. For financial literacy we participated in developing the curriculum for African immigrants. our organization participated in listening circles for women’s health in the Immigrant community. Women and spirituality, and a health working group,. Our organization participated in formulating the mission goals and objectives of this project. We participated in focus groups that highlighted the health needs of the immigrant community.

We have also been part of a focus group for the University of Minnesota Human Rights Project “This is my world”. We use the video in addition to the declaration of Human rights and the convention on the rights of the child to educate the youth group and empower them to adjust in their new environment knowing their rights and responsibilities. ANDI worked with 20 African led non-profit in capacity building trainings organized by LEAD group and other collaborations. ANDI has also worked with Progressive Individuals Resources Inc(PIR) to assist 16 African immigrant kids in an elementary school with school adjustments and integration into the school system.

While others are providing theses service ANDI provides service transitions into full participation.  ANDI’s works with the University of Minnesota Human Rights Center “This is my world.” Education projects an empowerment tool for adjustment in the school system. Our organization has been participating actively in the African World AIDS day celebration. We have been part of the planning committee since 2005. ANDI is a member of the Minority Health Collaborative on HIV/AIDS organized by the Department of Minority health that started last year 2006.
